So What’s Next?
You know, I’ve been asking myself that question for a few months now. I graduated from Washington Start University in December, 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications with a major in public relations and a minor in marketing. So… What’s next? Where do I go from here?
So far, I’ve entered the big bad job market in search of experience to grow from and build off of.
At first, my dream was to get a mentor or to study under someone who does publicity for a record label. I have a passion for people and want to work with them hands on. So rather than doing PR for a company, I would like to do PR for an individual and help them accomplish the world. I am very interested in several companies in Seattle, WA. I am also pursuing positions at PR firms.
Now, my dream is to simply help people. I want to be the voice for the voiceless, the strength for the powerless and the helping hand for those in need. I would love to reach out to communities, the needy and special causes. Community relations, program coordination or non-profit efforts all sound like wonderful ways to utilize my skills for the greater good.
The public relations field is extremely broad and offers so many opportunities. It might take a few tries to see what fits me best. But based on my interests and strengths, I know exactly where I belong. It’s just a matter of taking the steps to get myself there.
